not the sort of question to go around asking
ha no, not exactly!
ironic though, isn't it, that such a simple and otherwise harmless question, "do you believe these things?", can get you in a bad situation so fast! smells north-korean.
there was quite a debate on another post about the increase/decrease throughout the wt history surrounding 1975 and subsequent time periods when ther have been major adjustments in doctrine.
it was said that the stasticis from 1965-1985 do not reflect a massive defection, despite the failure of the wt's prophecy for the end of the wicked system of things by 1975. .
i see the overlapping generation as another potention issue to cause fallout.

i get to work, turn on my computer and right away open a tab for jwn, and scan through all the new topics and updates on other interesting ones.
then i leave that tab open all day long to look at the threads when i have time.
then i go home... and read crisis of conscience!.

This stuff is totally absorbing me! a part of me is sick of this religion and just doesn't want to think about it. but on the other hand, it's so fascinating to see what's going on with it around the world, and behind the scenes, and what will happen next. and it can be discussed from so many interesting angles. i'm hooked.

sunday i visited a local resturant in a strip-mall type of setup.
several business were closed over the weekend.
while leaving i noticed the next door had something stuck in the handle.
laundromat placements are very common around here too, and definitely congregation endorsed. they help placement numbers (and therefore boost pride when filling out the report slip), and can always be used as "experiences" relating to informal service, ending in "..and you never know what fruit it will bear".
i knew a brother who would always leave a set of mags on a public telephone at a quiet bus stop on the way to the service group. that way he counted a placement of 2 magazines, AND the fifteen minutes of driving time to the hall because he "started his time".

maybe I'll have a rubberstamp made up and simply start stamping it everywhere!
indeed, that was my idea too, to have a rubber stamp with www.jwfacts.com and stamp the inside or the back of every new mag, but more for the witnesses themselves, like in the study editions before they get handed out somehow.

i am one of those mentally-out "in's", though my "in"hood is gradually decreasing.
to accurately know how many still in are out mentally, you'd have to ask every individual active JW, and even then the veracity of their responses can be iffy. the best we can do is guess.
in my congregation, well it's hard to know although i often wonder about that. it's a conservative bunch with many older ones and low education levels. my guess is no more than 5%.
apologies if already discussed - the second cos talk discusses 4 "important" areas where jws need to consider the biblical principles involved.. answers on a postcode ( clue - one word - 2 letters - 1st letter is "n" ).
should a true christian?:.
(1) use a social networking website.
the "large gathering" thing has for a long time puzzled me too. the reasons brought up here make sense, but on the other hand, with many witnesses now apathetic or doubtful about doctrine, they need something to offer, at least in form of association and a sense of community.
i am just curious if anyone read crisis of conscience and still remained a jw with a good conscience?..
i recently started reading CoC.
i have a good conscience because i know i'm just seeking truth.
have also remained an ok-ish JW outwardly, in terms of what the members of the congregation think of me.
but i think what you mean to ask is if they could stay a Believing-JW.. and THAT i doubt. the only way is what Ding said, but for the vast majority it would cause, at least, severe cognitive dissonance.
the wt study edition is getting a facelift for the new year.. the january issue had been posted on jw.org but.... the boes hadn't received notice by letter of such a change.. the wts likes to play up every opportunity to have a new release.. this time the jw.org techies jumped the gun and went on to post.
the issues for download according to their established schedule.. unfortunately, they went ahead of the fds/gb who too late .
realized the cat was out of the bag, sort of saying.. well, it got pulled off the website, for now at least.. what's so secretive about it?.
just a question, i could barely understand the german in the pdf, but is it really the articles themselves that are being simplified?? because i was under the impression from the opening post that only the layout was being modelled after the simplified edition.. which wouldnt be a big deal really.
also, i do think the new cover image with a little country profile on the inside cover is cool. slightly apologetic i know, but my just opinion.

i am looking for information from several groups of people.. people who are no longer jws but have a spouse who is still in.
never-been jwswas a jw (baptized or not) but left after marrying and spouse remained indfed, daed or faded and still have a spouse who is inchildren (now grown) who were raised with one parent a jw and the other never beenchildren (now grown) where one parent left the jws and one stayed in.if there are categories i have missed let me know.
i need this to be pretty inclusive and focused on couples where one person is a jw and the other is not.. i will be asking questions re:.
also a category 2. and exwhyzee's questions resonate with me.
when you had to deal judicially with cases of apostasy, did it ever pique yout curiousity?
did anyone ever tell you about something they had learned that shocked you and made you investigate for yourself?.
Excellent question! i've often imagined my own JC in which i would bring up all my issues with the organization, and i wonder if they would be more interested in getting a confession of apostacy from me so they could DF me, or in discussing and examining the points that put into question their religion. i'm pretty sure i know the answer, but it sure puts into question the sincerity of the elders.
